Lakes 101 | January 26, 2007
The Tuxedo Park Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC) held the first in a series of educational talks last Thursday at the Village Office. Scott Kishbaugh, the Environmental Engineer from the Division of Water of the NY State DEC, gave a presentation on lakes, watersheds and their management. Mr. Kishbaugh spent a good part of his two-hour presentation on water quality issues: algae blooms and invasive plant species. Audience questions were mostly about blue green algae (cyanobacteria) and how to identify and eliminate invasive plant species. The Committee is in the process of eliciting proposals from several environmental consulting firms to create a lake management plan.
