The School Board met on September 20, 2007.
Superintendent Zanetti reported on the High School Options Committee. (This committee was formed to explore options for the TUFSD should Greenwood Lake choose to withdraw their students) The committee had met twice so far and will have a preliminary report ready by the end of this month.
Superintendent Zanetti also reported that the New York State Teacher’s Union is looking into the legal and monetary implications of such a move. Teachers in all three Districts (Tuxedo, Greenwood Lake, and Warwick) are members of this union.
During the public comment period, Tuxedo Park resident Uli Pendl asked for a response to his second letter to the Board pertaining the school taxes. (The Board misplaced Mr. Pendl’s first letter) Chairman Hickey responded by informing Mr. Pendl that only agenda items could be discussed during the public comment period.
The most important issue, which was not on the agenda, but which impacts all Tuxedo property owners, is the gap between the 10.7% approved alternative budget passed in June, and the TUFSD tax levy increase of 12.2%. Hopefully, this will be an agenda item for the October meeting so public discussion may take place in regards to it.
