The School Board met on August 16, 2007 at 6:30pm.
Newly elected Board President Jim Hickey announced that the Board had
the opportunity to review a joint work session between the Greenwood
Lake and Warwick school districts, which took place on Monday, August
13. The purpose of the session was to continue dialogue between the two
boards about the possible move of Greenwood Lake high school students
from George F Baker High School in Tuxedo to the Warwick school system.
During the session, a straw poll was taken in an effort to judge how
each Boards’ members might feel about such a move. The poll results
were unanimously in favor of the change. The issue will be put to public vote in both Greenwood Lake and Warwick later this fall.
It was reported that the tax levy has risen to a rate higher than
expected and is now just as high as the one originally proposed by the
Board and voted down by the public last May. A reconciliation was
requested by the Board. As always, Villagers who are concerned about
their school taxes are strongly urged to attend the School Board
meetings.
The next School Board meeting will be on Thursday, September 20 at 6:30pm.
